Nick Gordon, the former boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina “Krissy”; Brown, spoke to Dr. Phil about her private life and her alleged drug problem.

Gordon was asked if Krissy, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, struggled with drug addiction – to which Gordon simply replied: “Yeah.”;

He says Krissy would do drugs in social settings, but her usage worsened after the death of her mother: “It’s unfortunate, but at the time, that’s kind of the only way we knew how to deal with what had happened.”;

In a tragic turn of events, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in late January 2015 – similar to how her mother was found three years prior. For Gordon, he says it was heartbreaking: “How does that happen to one person and then happen the second time? It was just so similar. All the sirens and all that stuff. It was horrible.”;

Mere months after the tragedy, Gordon sat down with Dr. Phil in what quickly became an emotional and unpredictable intervention. The interview made national headlines and pushed Gordon towards recovery. “Rehab was something I needed and I’m thankful I got that opportunity,”; he tells Dr. Phil.

“I was drinking so much at the time because I could not deal with what was happening to Krissy. It mentally broke me. That’s the lowest point of my life right there,”; he adds, also admitting to taking Xanax to cope with the pain.

Later in the interview, Dr. Phil asks Gordon if he should have done more to help this late girlfriend. “If… you were her protector, and you were all she had and all she cared about, and she was going down drug highway, in retrospect did you fail her?”;

Gordon denies that, accusing Bobby Brown as the root of the problem. “[Brown] hurt his own daughter, not me,”; he says. “I was the one there for her while she was dealing with him not being there. He’s not a reasonable person so I’m not planning on talking to him and I really don’t want to.”;

Looking back on his time with Krissy and her mother, Gordon believes he did well: “Regardless of what everybody thinks, I made Krissy and Whitney’s last few years on earth as happy as they would be. I gave them somebody to trust, to talk to, to be there, someone genuine.”;
