Audra McDonald Defends Meghan Markle As She Calls Her ‘Gracious, Elegant, Gorgeous’ While Being Pregnant

Audra McDonald is speaking out for Duchess Meghan as she cannot believe “what this woman had had to endure from social media and the press.”

Meghan Markle has had a massive amount of racist and sexist comments about her, so much that Buckingham Palace has placed a new social media policy in effect to try and reduce the amount of trolling.

The Duchess admitted on International Women’s Day at a panel for The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust that she won’t look at Twitter. “It’s our responsibility to make a choice what we click on, make a choice of what we read, make a choice of what we engage in. That is our personal decision to not feed into negativity,” she told the room.

Since the general rule of the royals is not to make public statements on their private lives, Markle has been left with her friends to defend her. Most recently, the five friends who spoke to People in an attempt to set the record straight from the tabloid stories.

Now “Private Practice” star, McDonald is putting her voice (and belly) forward.

The Tony Award-winning star posted a video of her belly when she was eight months pregnant. You can see her baby kicking and rolling around.

She writes that “when I was 8 months pregnant I touched my belly all the time because it was MY belly and it was MY baby(usually as active as this video) inside.”

But now she reads “about how “weird” [Markle’s] body language is by a supposed Women’s magazine that supposedly prides itself on celebrating fierce, independent, strong women who can do anything and have it all?!?”. She adds, “Do better.”

Me at about 8 months pregnant. The reason I’m posting this is because of #MeghanMarkle. I cannot believe what this woman has had to endure from social media and the press. Then today to read about how “weird” her body language is by a supposed women’s magazine that supposedly prides itself on celebrating fierce, independent, strong women who can do anything and have it all?!? Do better. When I was 8 months pregnant I touched my belly all the time because it was MY belly and it was MY baby(usually as active as this video) inside, had crazy emotions ranging from elation to depression to rage to uncontrollable fits of laughter. I was a swollen, hot, sweaty, enormous, flatulent, in search of my feet, hot fudge sundae junkie, nervously excited, pudgy faced, waddling goddess. The thought of having to go through all of that plus having a million cameras in my face, bullied left right and center, and still be gracious, elegant, gorgeous, and full of purpose in front of the whole world is unimaginable. Do better. Leave her alone.

“I was a swollen, hot, sweaty, enormous, flatulent, in search of my feet, hot fudge sundae junkie, nervously excited, pudgy faced, waddling goddess,” but can’t imagine doing it all with “a million cameras” in her face while being “bullied left, right and center.”

McDonald calls the Duchess “gracious, elegant, gorgeous, and full of purpose” all while doing this “in front of the whole world”. A thought which she calls “unimaginable.”
