Alex Trebek is overwhelmed with the support from fans.
The longtime “Jeopardy!” host, 78, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, returned in front of the camera for a special message to fans.
In the short clip, Trebek spoke directly to his well-wishing followers, “I just wanted to take a few moments to say thanks to the, believe it or not, hundreds of thousands of people who have sent in tweets, texts, emails, cards and letters wishing me well following my recent health announcement.”
Along with fans, letters from past “Jeopardy!” contestants have passed good vibes to the Canadian legend, “I’ve heard from former contestants, even Watson, the IBM computers, sent me a get well card.”
He continued, “Now obviously, I won’t be able to respond to all of you individually, but I did want you to know that I do read everything I receive. And I am thankful for the kind words, the prayers, and the advice you have offered and I am extremely touched by the warmth you have expressed in your comments to me.”
In his conclusion, he ended with the simple phrase, “I’m a lucky guy.”
A week after revealing his diagnosis, Trebek returned to “Jeopardy!” filming.
