Kim Kardashian is praising the New Zealand government’s fast response to the horrific Mosque shooting in Christchurch, banning semiautomatic weapons in the wake of the attack that left at least 49 people dead.

Taking to Twitter, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star offered a passionate response to news of the gun ban.

“Just 24 hours after the Christchurch shooting New Zealand bans semiautomatic guns,” she wrote, adding an applause emoji, and continued by calling out her own country for its inability to carry out similar action despite the numerous mass shootings that have occurred in the U.S.

“America take note!” she added. “Why can’t our elected officials put public safety over gun manufacturers’ profits?!?!”

Kardashian’s opinion was seconded by British TV personality Piers Morgan, who has long been a crusader for tighter gun-control regulations in the U.S. A number of other celebrities also chimed in.
