David Foster and his fellow nominees at Saturday’s Juno Awards Gala had no idea Michael Buble was in the house.
Buble made a surprise appearance at the pre-telecast gala dinner and awards ceremony to honour his close friend Foster with Humanitarian of the Year. Foster was honoured for his philanthropic efforts.
“He has inspired me to be a better man and embrace the importance of giving back however I can,” Buble said of Foster. He called the producer “a man whose heart is as big as the sun.” Foster supports hundreds of charities, including the David Foster Foundation.
Since Buble was in the building he also picked up his 14th Juno Award. The 43-year-old crooner won Adult Contemporary Album of the Year for his work on Love.
The evening’s biggest star was arguably Shawn Mendes. The 20-year-old “Stitches” singer won four awards on Saturday: Artist of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Single of the Year for “In My Blood”. International Album of the Year went to Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys.
The televised 2019 Juno Awards air on Sunday in London, Ontario. Sarah McLachlan will host the ceremony.
