By Jamie Samhan.
Based on the hit books by Armistead Maupin, “Armistead Maupin’s Tales Of The City” will start streaming on Netflix this summer but will first open up the San Francisco Film Festival.
The story follows Mary Ann (Laura Linney) who returns to San Francisco 20 years after leaving her family behind to pursue her career. She is reunited with her daughter (Ellen Page) and ex-husband Brain (Paul Gross) after a midlife crisis. Life in Connecticut quickly fades away as she is sucked back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis) and her neighbours on 23 Barbary Lane.
