Stephen Colbert paid tribute to the 50 people who lost their lives in the horrific New Zealand shooting during Monday’s “Late Show”.
The host praised NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern –a guest on the show around nine months ago — and told viewers: “We just want to say how sad, how heartbroken we are for what that country is going through.”

“It’s this wonderful isolated country so far away from the problems that we take for granted here.
“And now this very particular brand of evil has infected that country. Like an evil creature has arrived on that island. I pray with all my heart that they have the courage to take the action that we seem to lack up here in the United States.
“Good luck to them, and blessings and peace upon the Muslim community there and everywhere in the world.”

Colbert also explained how the “Late Show” team were actually about to go and film in NZ before the incident occurred; however, now those plans had been put on hold.
Friday’s attack took place at two mosques in Christchurch and saw another 50 injured, as well as those who were killed.
