Dan Blankenship, star of the History reality series “The Curse of Oak Island”, has died at the age of 95.
The Nova Scotia local’s passing was announced by the Friends of Oak Island Society on its Facebook page Monday.
Blankenship passed away on Sunday evening, CTV News reported.
Originally from the United States, Blankenship moved to Oak Island in 1965 and dedicated most of his life to searching for a legendary lost treasure.
In “The Curse of Oak Island”, brothers Marty and Rick Lagina enlist the help of Blankenship and his son Dave in their hunt for the treasure.
In a statement, History and production company Prometheus said, “We are saddened by the loss of Dan Blankenship. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.”
