Jameela Jamil is pulling no punches when it comes to celebrities promoting dieting products.
On Wednesday, Khloe Kardashian posted a photo on Instagram showing off her slim figure as an ad for the meal replacement shakes from Flat Tummy.
Seeing the post, Jamil decided to leave a comment criticizing Kardashian’s choice to do an ad for Flat Tummy, particularly by showing off her body.
“If you’re too irresponsible to: a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product…And b) tell [your followers] the side effects of this NON-FDA approved product, that most doctors are saying aren’t healthy […] then I guess I have to,” Jamil wrote.
She explained that some of the products being advertised reportedly cause side effects such as cramping, diarrhea and more.
“It’s incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance,” she continued. “That’s the media’s fault. But now please don’t put that back into the world, and hurt other girls, the way you would have been hurt.”
Jamil added, “You’re a smart woman. Be smarter than this.”
Kardashian has not yet responded to Jamil’s comment.
Meanwhile, other commenters were also critical of Kardashian’s ad, with one writing, “Young girls are looking up to you and they think it will work / or that its normal… you have so much power. please use it wisely, and focus on the fact that beauty is so much more than what can be seen.”
Another wrote, “Stop promoting this harmful product and viewpoint! It’s so harmful to anyone that’s struggling right now with body love and acceptance.”
