Not only did Colby Swift get through to the next round on “American Idol”, he got the surprise of a lifetime when Luke Bryan gave him a very thoughtful gift.
Swift, 19, first performed Freddy Fender’s “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” in both English and Spanish as he dedicated the song to his sister. The performance moved all three judges, including Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
When Swift returned to the stage, Bryan asked him, “Can you show the camera the bottom of your shoes there?” revealing holes in the soles of Swift’s cowboy boots.
Bryan then asked him what size shoe he wears: “Wouldn’t be a 12D, would it?”
“I mean, whatever fits,” Swift replied.
“Well, I’m a 12D, and I’ll solve that little problem,” Bryan said as he took off his shoes to give to Swift. Perry, Richie and some of his fellow contestants all had to urge the young singer to put the boots on.
“So Colby, those boots are made for walking to the next round, and your whole line is going to the next round with you.”
