A week after revealing to viewers that she was living in a sober living facility, Wendy Williams was reportedly rushed to hospital when she was found drunk.
As the Daily Mail reports, a “studio source” reports that the daytime talk-show host, 54, “was in a bad way and disappeared from the studio after her show Monday. She went back to the sober house only to check herself out and decided to start drinking.”
According to the source, “Word got back to the studio and there was panic and concern, everyone was looking for her, no one knew whether there would be a show today. She was eventually found and was drunk, she was immediately taken to the hospital.”
Reports indicate that Williams was treated with a “banana bag” — a bag of yellow-coloured IV fluids (hence the nickname) containing vitamins and minerals designed to clear the system and help the patient sober up faster.
Despite the drama, Williams managed to make it into work the following day. “Wendy was in a bad way so everyone was amazed that she made it into the studio this morning to do the show,” the source said on Tuesday.
Williams was also present for the show on Wednesday. She made no reference to the reported relapse, according to People, and stuck to the regular format. Her guests included Waka Flocka and Tammy Rivera.
Meanwhile, Williams’ reported relapse took place the same day as reports that her husband, Kevin Hunter, welcomed a baby with his alleged mistress Sharina Hudson.
“Sharina gave birth to the baby at Hahnemann University Hospital in [Philadelphia],” a source told Page Six. “Apparently, they chose this location because they were worried that if she gave birth in New York, it would be leaked to the press.”
Another source describes the situation as “crazy,” adding, “Wendy is in a halfway house fighting for her sobriety, while her husband is at the side of his mistress who is giving birth to a baby. Sharina went into labour on Sunday [and] is believed to have given birth late on Sunday or in the early hours of Monday.
“Everyone who loves Wendy is heartbroken and furious. Her fans are furious that she lied to them about her health and about what she has been going through.”
Earlier this year, Williams and Hunter denied rumours of his infidelity, even having their lawyers send a cease-and-desist letter to Love B Scott, a website that reported Hunter had impregnated Hudson.
“Mrs. Wendy Williams-Hunter and Mr. Kevin Hunter categorically deny each and every allegation made by your ‘sources,’ even if not specifically enumerated herein,” reads the letter.
