Guillermo del Toro is teasing his latest project, and it’s a creepy one.
The Oscar-winning director is producer of “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark”, which just unveiled the first teaser trailer for the upcoming fright flick, directed by Andre Ovredal.
Based on Alvin Schwartz’s bestselling book series, the film surrounds a group of teenagers in a small town in 1968 who discover a book of scary stories with a supernatural twist.
“You don’t read the book,” says one character in the trailer, “the book reads you.”
“It’s 1968 in America,” reads the film’s synopsis. “Change is blowing in the wind… but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time — stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying home.”
“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is scheduled to hit theatres in summer 2019.
