Move over Beyoncé, Shangela runs the world now!
The drag queen superstar tore the house down at the GLAAD Media Awards Thursday night with an incredible lip-sync medley of Queen Bey’s greatest hits, including “Single Ladies”, “Partition”, and Destiny’s Child favourite “Bootylicious”.
The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star rocked the stage with some impressive choreographed dance moves and finished her performance to a standing ovation from the entire audience.
Best of all, Shangela dazzled Beyoncé herself, who was on her feet clapping and dancing along to the show-stopping performance. The drag star could barely contain her excitement after noticing the “Crazy In Love” singer’s appreciation.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z were at the show to accept the GLAAD Vanguard Award for their continued support for the LGBTQ community. During her speech, Beyoncé dedicated the award to her late uncle, who died from HIV.
“Witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived,” she said. “I’m hopeful that his struggle served to open pathways for other young people to live more freely… LGBTQI rights are human rights.”
