While Beyonce did perform in North Carolina, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the singer supports the state’s recent decision to pass legislation that hinders LGBTQ communities. In a statement on her website, she said, “As The Formation World Tour makes its stop in the Tar Heel state in the midst of such a controversial time, we think it is important for us to bring attention to those who are committed to being good and carrying on the message of equality in this core of controversy.”;
Bey goes on to highlight Equality NC, a local organization that focuses on securing equal rights and justice for LGBTQ North Carolina residents. In her statement, she adds, “Learn more about how you can support Equality NC by donating, volunteering, becoming an ambassador, attending an event, or simply spreading the word!”;
Beyonce’s “Formation”; tour kicked off on April 27, 2016 in Miami, where she performed a combination of 30 old and new tracks and even gave a shout-out to her husband Jay-Z.
