Her Majesty the Queen has released a heartfelt statement on the devastating wildfires raging in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
“Prince Philip and I were shocked and saddened by the news of the wild fires that are causing such devastation to Fort McMurray. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been affected, and we send our heartfelt thanks to the firefighters and the other emergency workers,”; the statement read.
The catastrophic fires have surpassed over 10,000 hectares with the fires now reaching the downtown area of Fort McMurray.

Her Majesty is the latest to show support for the community as the largest fire evacuation in Alberta history is underway.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and federal leaders addressed the situation, urging for donations to the Canadian Red Cross.
