What better day to debut The Joker than on April Fool’s?

“Gotham” has revealed the long-awaited final transformation of Jerome (Cameron Monaghan), who they refuse to actually call The Joker. Monaghan first revealed his character’s Jokerish transformation back in May.

“Various hair tests. Pure green was off-limits to us (as well as the name “Joker”), a decision from high-up as they wanted to reserve these for films,” the actor explained. “A decision which ultimately I respect. They did not want to dilute the very lucrative brand. It allowed for creativity on our end.”

The new iteration of the character will be revealed in the penultimate episode of “Gotham.”

The season five finale of “Gotham” will also mark the end of Ben McKenzie, Morena Baccarin and David Mazouz’s run on the show.

Episode 11 of the final season airs April 18, and the last ever episode of “Gotham” is scheduled for April 25.
