The trailer for “Wild Rose” has been released. A tale of a Scottish woman who “should have been American.”
The film follows former inmate Rose-Lynn, played by “Peaky Blinders” actress Jessie Buckley, as she is newly released from jail. “You’re gonna be the next Dolly Parton,” screams an excited inmate as she leaves the prison.
The single mom returns home to her children, but hopes of making it big in Nashville are on her mind. An ankle monitor, a curfew and a worried mother (Julie Walters) are all holding her back. Her mom would like to see her focus on her children and not let them down.
She takes on a housecleaning job when her boss (Sophie Okonedo) overhears her pipes and encourages her to go to Nashville.
“Wild Rose” features original songs and covers all impressively sung by Buckley.
The film first premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews. “Wild Rose” will hit theatres on June 14, but for now you can check out the trailer above.
