Will.i.am has confirmed he’s been making music with Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
The Black Eyed Peas star made the comments while chatting on U.K. morning show “Lorraine”, telling the talk-show host that the pair collaborated over some afternoon tea.
Will.i.am explained, “So, a long time ago she was like, ‘You should come over to my house for tea.’ She said, ‘You know, I write poetry.’ I was like, ‘You know what would be real cool? If you recited some of your poetry over some of my music.'”
He went on, “I thought it would be fun as everybody knows me and [singer and former Black Eyed Peas collaborator] Fergie but to have Fergie, the real Fergie, drop some poetry lyricals over my beats. She’s always been cool.”
The former royal also reportedly introduced the musician to her ex-husband Prince Andrew when the pair visited his charity in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.
Will continued, according to the Daily Mail: “She is amazing. She came to my ghetto, she came and visited my school, a couple of years back, taking that trip to L.A., which she does often, but to come and spend some time with the kids who go to my school… For her to come there and encourage them and root them on.
“We didn’t want it to be like a press thing. I want to impress my students. Not everything is about press. Some people need to be impressed and mentored.”
