“Shark Tank”; star Barbara Corcoran appeared on “Good Morning America”; today to defend some controversial comments she made via social media, advising female entrepreneurs to follow her lead by not being afraid to show some skin to get ahead in business.

“I find running a #business in a man’s world to be a huge advantage. I wear bright colors, yank up my skirt + get attention,”; she tweeted on Tuesday (don’t go looking for it; the tweet has since been deleted).

As you’d expect, Corcoran’s seemingly anti-feminist advice generated controversy, with some of her fellow female entrepreneurs strongly disagreeing with Corcoran’s remakrs.

“We should be judged by our revenue and vision, not by what we wear,”; said Eileen Carey, cofounder of software firm Glassbreakers, in an interview with ABC News, defining Corcoran’s views as the “opposite of progress. We should be moving towards a place where gender is no longer a way to get attention — or not get attention.”;

In an attempt to defuse the controversy, Corcoran visited “GMA”; this morning, saying, “If you’re beautiful, let yourself be beautiful.”;

Asked whether she regrets making the comments, the Shark added: “I totally believe what I said, and I’m frankly a little bit surprised by getting any reaction to it. I think it’s so obvious, that if you’re a woman or a man, regardless of what sex you are, you really have to play up what you’ve got.”; Watch:
