Many rappers have sidelines as actors or even game shot hosts (a.k.a. Snoop Dogg’s gig on “The Joker’s Wild”), but Logic is the first to rapper to write a novel that hit #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List.

Logic — whose real name is Sir Robert Bryson Hall II  — recently published his first novel, Supermarket, which hit the top spot in the list this week.

Written under the pen name Bobby Hall, Supermarket was released on March 26, and immediately shot to the top, displacing A.J. Finn’s The Woman In The Window, which held the top spot for three consecutive weeks.

The novel surrounds a young man named Flynn, who is “depressed, recently dumped, and living at his mom’s house.” Flynn sees a new job working at a supermarket as his way out until he shows up at work one day and is greeted by a crime scene, causing his world to collapse “as the secrets of his tortured mind are revealed.”

Described by publisher Simon & Schuster as “a darkly funny psychological thriller,” Supermarket is “a gripping exploration into madness and creativity. Who knew you could find sex, drugs, and murder all in aisle nine?”
