Sheryl Crow drives a Tesla, a fact fans discovered when her electric car malfunctioned on Wednesday and left her stranded in a parking lot.
Luckily for the “All I Wanna Do” singer, her cellphone was working just fine, and she turned to Twitter to seek some help when the control screen went black and refused to reboot, meaning the car couldn’t be started or driven.
Crow, 57, received hundreds of responses, offering solutions ranging from instructions on how to do a reset to snarkier suggestions such as “call a taxi” and “buy a Subaru.”
One suggestion stood out from all the rest, and that’s because it came from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
“Change your screen preference from night mode to auto,” he explained in a helpful tweet, explaining in a second that having the screen set to night mode “with 0% brightness is actually too dark during the day.”
This, he explained, “is ultimately our fault. We will update our software so that 0% brightness is always usable relative to ambient conditions.”
Apparently Musk’s tip did the trick, with Crow declaring the problem was solved.
After the crisis was averted, Crow thanked her Twitter followers for their “creative responses,” pointing out the best one “was suggesting my kids take a look… which would have been helpful since my kid was the one who changed the settings / caused it to go black in the first place.”
She also offered a response to the snarky comments, declaring she loves her Tesla and other than this issue has had “very few problems.”
Amidst all the comments, Alanis Morissette somehow received a sarcastic shout-out.
