It may be his third time playing well-dressed assassin John Wick but Keanu Reeves is learning some new skills for the franchise’s third instalment, “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”.
The Toronto-raised actor spent time in Florida training with Shawn Ryan, a former Navy SEAL who runs a tactical training camp for police officers and civilians.
Reeves, who performs 90 per cent of his own stunts in the “John Wick” films, got some real-world tips from Ryan, including how to approach a doorway with a target inside. In a video shared by Ryan’s Vigilance Elite camp, a dressed-down and bearded Reeves asks questions about how tactical trained forces would approach various situations, getting a step-by-step breakdown on proper body language and weapons handling.
“John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” sees Reeves’ hitman team up with a hit-woman (played by Halle Berry), who helps him escape New York after a $14-million bounty is placed on his head. The movie will open in theatres May 19.
