Things got awkward for a Canadian tennis player on a TV panel this week, as the host cracked a joke about Eugenie Bouchard.
18-year-old Felix Auger-Aliassime was on the Ici Radio-Canada Télé program “Tout Le Monde En Parle” when the host said, as translated by news.com.au, “Milos Raonic is 15th in the world, Denis Shapovalov is 20th, Bianca Andreescu, who is 18 like you, is 23rd… and Eugenie Bouchard is on Instagram.”
The studio audience let out a big laugh, while Auger-Aliassime nervously smiled and chuckled.
It was reported last week that, after a rough 2018 on the courts, Bouchard would be taking an indefinite break from tennis. She also pulled out of two upcoming WTA tour events.
Bouchard had recently gotten her world ranking back up to No. 76 after falling as low as 194th last summer.
