Michelle Pfeiffer revealed that she has passed on some major roles in the past.
While visiting “Today”, the “Batman Returns” star didn’t really want to “go down the list” of movies but did say that she was offered parts in “Pretty Woman”, “Thelma & Louise”, and “Basic Instinct”.
“But the thing is, there are so many reasons that go into turning something down, and it’s not necessarily because you don’t want to do it,” the actress, 60, explained. “There’s a conflict, you’re committed to something else. Typically, it was something like that.”
After becoming a mother to Claudia and John with husband David E. Kelley, the actress started to turn down roles.
“I just got pickier and pickier. It was hard to leave them, especially when they got to be school age,” Pfeiffer said. “Before that, I could just take them with me anywhere I went. But then there was breaking up the family unit. My husband has a job that he can’t just up and go. So it was always a juggling act. But, oddly enough, empty nester, I am now working a lot.”
One of her most famous roles was as Catwoman, a part she was reminded of recently when she rediscovered her whip.
Kotb asked Pfeiffer if she would return to the part.
“Oh, gosh. I mean, that would be incredible,” Pfeiffer said. “I was sad when that ended.”
“I was just getting comfortable with everything that I had to deal with and beginning to have some fun with it and then it was over,” she added.
