Ellen Page seems to have found a comfortable home at Netflix, as highlighted by her work on “Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City” and “The Umbrella Academy”.
Following Page’s success on “The Umbrella Academy”, the first season received positive feedback from many critics and viewers, the Oscar-nominated Canadian actress stars in the streaming service’s new limited series based on Maupin’s nine-novel series of the same name.
Laura Linney takes the lead role of Mary Ann who “returns to present-day San Francisco and is reunited with her daughter Shawna (Page) and ex-husband Brian (Paul Gross), 20 years after leaving them behind to pursue her career,” according to a press release. “Fleeing the midlife crisis that her picture-perfect Connecticut life created, Mary Ann is quickly drawn back into the orbit of Anna Madrigal (Olympia Dukakis)… her chosen family and a new generation of queer young residents living at 28 Barbary Lane.”
“Tales of the City” stars Linney, as well as Canadians Page, Gross and Victor Garber. It premieres June 7 on Netflix.
