BLACKPINK are taking over the global music scene and Apple Music’s “Beats 1” is no exception.
The South Korean girl group star in the new “Chart Takeover” video for “Beats 1” and Apple Music. Members Rose, Lisa, Jennie and Jisoo shared some of the musical inspirations that have helped craft their sound.

“That’s so hard,” Rose exclaimed when asked what music inspired her the most. “I would have to say Malibu Nights by LANY.” Member Lisa listed Japanese singer-songwriter Joji’s debut album Ballads 1 as a project that inspired her. She also mentioned Dua Lipa, letting out a little squeal and telling her, “I love you.”
Jennie also gave a shoutout to Lipa. “‘New Rules’ by Dua Lipa. It was my favourite song,” she said. “I think I watched the video on the day it came out. I fell in love as soon as I heard it.” Jisoo giggled as she described BLACKPINK as her musical inspiration.

The girl group also reflected on their collaboration with Lipa after members of the group met Lipa at one of her concerts. “Dua sent us a song called ‘Kiss and Makeup’ and asked us if we want to feature on it,” Jennie reflected.
BLACKPINK’s second Korean-language EP Kill This Love dropped on April 5.
