With the debut of the final season of “Game of Thrones” just days away, star Kit Harington appeared on the U.K.’s “The Graham Norton Show” to discuss saying goodbye to playing Jon Snow after nearly a decade, sharing a hilarious anecdote about how he now responds when someone recognizes him and goes, “Jon Snow?”
“I kind of really waited to say the words, ‘Not anymore,’ like in a really stoic, cool kind of way.”
However, he admits the first time he tried out the line he was feeling anything but stoic and cool.
“I had left set and I was very emotional and this poor girl came up to the airport and went, ‘Are you Jon Snow?!’ And I went, [collapsing into sobs] ‘Not anymore.'”‘
During the appearance — alongside Julianne Moore and “Avengers: Endgame” stars Paul Rudd and Chris Hemsworth — Harington also revealed that he told exactly one person what happens at the end of “Game of Thrones” — because he just had to tell somebody.
“The intensity of finishing something like this and not being able to tell anybody is so hard,” he explained, as reported by Digital Spy. “It got too much, so I’ve told one person — my friend James, who doesn’t watch the show and fell asleep in the first episode of the very first season.”
In fact, he selected James precisely because he has “zero interest” in the HBO hit.
“We were having a drink the other night and I told him everything about how the series ends,” Harington added, “and he couldn’t have looked less interested if he tried!”
The eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” begins on Sunday, April 14.
