Khalid Scores His First No. 1 Album On Billboard 200 With ‘Free Spirit’

Khalid’s Free Spirit has floated all the way to the peak of the Billboard 200 chart.

The “Better” sing has scored his first No, 1 album on the charts just two months after his milestone 21st birthday. Free Spirit — Khalid’s second full-length album and third project overall — debuted at No. 1 with 202,000 equivalent album sales, according to Billboard.

Khalid’s latest album notched the fourth-largest week for an album in 2019 and the largest for a male solo artist. The last R&B album to top the charts the Weeknd’s My Dear Melancholy, which reached No. 1 following its March 30, 2018, release.

Khalid’s debut studio album American Teen peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 2017 and his EP Suncity peaked at No. 8 in late 2018.

Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? shifted to No. 2 after topping the charts and the late Nipsey Hussle’s 2018 album Victory Lap raced to No. 3. See this week’s top 10 below.
