“Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” star Ezra Miller and Australian dancer and singer-songwriter Keiynan Lonsdale are going “camp” for Vogue ahead of the annual Met Gala.
Posing for the magazine to break down the elements of camp, this year’s theme of the Met Gala, Miller and Lonsdale sport heels and gowns for the look defined by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, “Notes On Camp” where she defines the style as the “love of the unnatural” and “style at the expense of content.”
“Everything flips upside down in this theatre of high drama,” Miller says of the camp aesthetic.
“It’s so easy to play it safe, but that’s not camp,” Lonsdale says, posing in a 1995 powder-pink Vivienne Westwood gown inspired by the 18th-century French court.
The Met Gala will be held on May 6 ahead of the opening of the costume exhibition which runs May 9 through Sept. 8 at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York City.
