Beyonce Calls Michelle Obama A ‘Beacon of Hope’ That Her Children Can Look Up To

Michelle Obama is one of Time magazine‘s 100 Most Influential People.

And none other than Beyonce wrote a touching tribute to the Becoming author and former first lady for the magazine, revealing how she’s become an inspiration to not only her, but her young children as well.

“She would’ve been impactful simply by being in the White House, the first African-American First Lady. But she also used her position of power to improve the world around her,” the Grammy-winning musician writes. “Her initiative Reach Higher, for example, encourages young people to complete their education past high school. She empowers all of us to interrogate our fears and surpass greatness.”

“I’m honoured to know such a brilliant black woman who’s spoken about the sacrifice it takes to balance her passions while remaining a supportive partner and mother, and now a best-selling author with Becoming,” Bey continues. “She has continued to open herself up, even if it meant being criticized. She has continued to be a portrait of grace.”

Beyonce, who is a mom to 7-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and 1-year-old twins Sir and Rumi, met Michelle on the night before Barack Obama’s inauguration and credits her for being a “beacon of hope” for her children.

“I am so grateful that my daughters and my son live in a world where Michelle Obama shines as a beacon of hope who inspires all of us to do better and to be better,” she says.

The Obamas are big fans of Beyonce and her husband, JAY-Z. Michelle was spotted at several stops on Bey and Jay’s On the Run II Tour last year — one in Paris, where she was seen hanging with Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, and another in Maryland, where she danced it up with Barack.
