Ellie Goulding has just unveiled her new music video for “Sixteen”, and she’s taking a deep dive into a pool full of nostalgia.
The video begins with Goulding looking wistfully in the rearview mirror of her black convertible until going back to her own youth via flashback, when she and her best friend are teenagers.
Teen Goulding and her friend are seen indulging in such time-honoured adolescent shenanigans as smoking weed and stealing a bottle of vodka from a convenience store, which they drink in a playground.
“Can I wear your T-shirt/And sleep on you/While I dream of all the good times/When we were sixteen,” sings Goulding in the track, the third single off her upcoming fourth album.
“I’m so excited to share ‘Sixteen’ with everyone,” Goulding said in a statement.
“That age was such a pivotal year for me in many ways and this song is so close to my heart. It takes me back to the reckless days of being a teenager and I hope it reminds us all about the innocence of youth.”
