Christine And The Queens’ Coachella Performance Cancelled Due To Mother’s Death

Christine and the Queens will not be returning to the Coachella stage for the festival’s second weekend, with French singer-songwriter Heloise Letissier breaking the sad news that she’s returned to France following the death of her mother earlier this week.

In a tweet (which she wrote in French), Letissier explains that she needs to cancel Saturday’s show in order to be with her loved ones during this time of mourning.

“I can only write very simple sentences,” reads her translated tweet. “I lost my mother on Tuesday night. I came home to go through this ordeal with my loved ones — I won’t be able to sing this Saturday. I kiss you.”

Christine and the Queens’ second Coachella performance was to have taken place on Saturday, April 20; no word from festival organizers at this time whether a replacement act will be taking her place.

In addition to the Coachella cancellation, Thursday’s Christine and the Queens concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, California, has also been cancelled.
