Say hello to Captain Minnie.
Disney’s leading lady Minnie Mouse has been promoted to Captain on board Disney Cruise Line.
They shared the news via Twitter, showing the adorable, and stylish, mouse wearing her first pair of pants all in the name of female empowerment, aiming to “inspire the next generation of female ship captains.”

The announcement marks the first time the iconic character has worn pants, but being the style icon that Minnie is, she has the option of a skirt as well.

“Our Disney characters have a unique ability to inspire and connect with children, and we know Captain Minnie will encourage young girls around the world to consider a career in the maritime industry,” the president of Disney Cruise Line, Jeff Vahle, said in the statement.
Disney will also join forces with LJM Maritime Academy and sponsor four scholarships for the academy in the Bahamas, supporting female cadets who aspire to be ship captains and shipboard leaders.
Minnie will make her rounds on all Disney ships starting in April.
