“I’m amazed by it, to receive all this love,” group member J-Hope tells Doane in a clip from the interview, which aired on Sunday, April 21.

Doane visited with the group as they rehearsed in Seoul, South Korea, in preparation for their upcoming tour, speaking primarily with BTS singer RM, who often serves as the group’s unofficial spokesman due to his fluent English — which he says is the result of listening to American music and watching the sitcom “Friends”.

“I love pop music and I love the ‘Friends,’” RM tells Doane. “Yeah, the TV show. My mom bought me the full series — I watched it — like several times. I just want to speak and listen and to understand musicians in America. I just want to say, thank you, mom.”

While the group is enjoying monumental success, a roadblock could be coming in the form of South Korea’s policy of mandatory military service, which the members have so far been able to delay.

“As a Korean, it’s natural. And some day when duty calls — we’ll be ready to respond and do our best,” says BTS member Jin.

“We just enjoy the ride, live in the moment, and that’s all we can do,” adds RM.
