Fans’ dreams of a face-off between Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber just got stoked once again.
Appearing on “Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp”, Mendes offered up a new challenge to fellow his fellow Canadian pop star.
The whole thing got started earlier this month when Bieber commented on one of Mendes’ Instagram posts sharing a magazine cover declaring him “Prince of pop.”
“Gonna have to break a few more records to dethrone my title there bud (canadian voice),” Biber jokingly wrote, “but if you want we can play hockey for it but i heard your a real bender on the ice we could just drop the buckets and tilt for it.”
Mendes clearly heard that challenge, admitting to Kemp, “Just so we’re clear, I want this to be known just in case this ever happens, he’s a better hockey player than me. And I know this.”
But that doesn’t mean Mendes planes on backing down.
“If we’re going to do this, I’m going to take it seriously,” he said. “I’m going to start practicing three times a week now. If this is going to be a thing we’ve got to figure it out.”
Asked if he would actually want to set up a hockey match against Bieber, Mendes said, “Yeah, 100 per cent.”
