Pink is giving fans another taste of her new album.
The Grammy-winning singer, 39, dropped “Hurts 2B Human” on Monday – the title track off her upcoming record.
The soulful new tune, that features Khalid, is one of four collaborations off the album. Pink also enlisted special guests Cash Cash, Chris Stapleton and Wrabel on the new LP.
Pink sings the emotional lyrics, “Sometimes I get so tired of getting tired up my thoughts, You’re the only one that often makes it stop. God, it hurts to be human, Without you I’d be losing and someday we’ll face the music,” before Khalid joins in with, “Now if we defeat all odds and it was us against the world, You could count on me, you know I’d have your back.”
In a chat with Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1 show, Pink chatted about what it was like to work with Khalid, revealing she’s been a long-time fan.
“I love everything about him. I met him for the first time at the MTV Awards a couple of years ago. He has the greatest smile you’d ever wanna see. He’s just super genuine and super excited,” she said.
Adding, “’Hurts 2B Human’ is about the human experience. I’m a woman, Khalid is a man. He has his own experiences. He’s African American, I’m Jewish. The point is, it’s all about your village. It’s all about your people, and the circle you create around you to get through all the bulls**t in this world. That’s where the song came from… We went into the studio together and it was just classic Khalid and he was like, ‘Dude, my mom loves you.’ and I’m like ‘Oh cool, great! Do that’s why you’re here?’ He goes, ‘My mom wanted to tell you, aside from me, you’re her favourite person.’ And I’m like you know what? I’m into that I’ll take that.”
Pink teased the single on Instagram and Twitter, writing, “#Hurts2BHuman feat. the amazing Khalid out now!”
