Metallica can have you head-banging to just about anything, including “Star-Spangled Banner”.
The heavy metal band was in attendance for Friday’s sold-out baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees. Guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the U.S. national anthem at the Giants’ seventh annual “Metallica Day.”
Furthermore, drummer Lars Ulrich threw the ceremonial first pitch, with the band also announcing the teams’ starting lineups. The band performed with custom-autographed Giants-themed guitars that will be raffled off for charity, according to Blabbermouth.
“We’re blessed to be doing this every year and being a part of the vibe here,” Hetfield said. “You know, when times are good, when times are bad, they need the support.”
