According to Variety, the breakout star is close to the end of her contract, which could see her leaving the cast of the long-running sketch series at the end of its 44th season next month.
“SNL” and McKinnon’s representatives are reportedly still working to find a way to have her continue appearing on the show.
McKinnon has portrayed Hillary Clinton and others on “SNL” and has also starred in a number of films including 2016’s “Ghostbusters”.
There are three episodes left in the current season of “SNL”, with the season finale set to air May 18.
ET Canada has reached out to McKinnon’s representatives for comment.
