First Look At Jim Carrey As Dr. Robotnik In ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Movie

Jim Carrey is quite the egghead in this first look at his new role in the live-action “Sonic The Hedgehog” movie.

Carrey plays Sonic’s archnemesis Dr. Ivo Robotnik, also known as Doctor Eggman. This photo of Carrey in costume was seemingly leaked ahead of the first official “Sonic The Hedgehog” movie trailer. The leak was posted by SEGAbits on Monday, ahead of the official trailer drop on Tuesday.

In the photo, Carrey wears Dr. Robotnik’s trademark glasses and red coat, although his moustache is far more subdued than the iconic Sonic villain. According to Polygon, the picture shows Carrey’s character at his most normal. This suggests the character will undergo drastic changes over the course of the film.

One fan account put this comparison together for not familiar with the character.

“Sonic The Hedgehog” is based on the beloved video game franchise by SEGA. It premieres Nov. 8 through Paramount Pictures.
