Bradley Cooper: ‘I Don’t Want An Oscar’

Bradley Cooper features his trademark baby blues on the cover of British GQ and inside the actor opens up about the life changing event that has made him say he doesn’t want to win an Oscar.

Since Bradley’s dad passed away in 2011, he says the acting accolade means very little to him: “I don’t want to win an Oscar… career-wise, right now, it’s better that I don’t win one. I don’t want to win. I don’t.”;

And it seems that his experience of losing his father is a big part of the reason why.  “I watched him dying and I was there by his bed watching him, breathing with him, and then I saw his last breath and he was gone,” he explains. “I experienced the whole thing. And that was a watershed moment that I was privileged to experience. And it changed everything. Nothing has ever been the same since.”

Ever the positive thinker, Bradley tells the magazine that there is in fact a silver lining to his monumental experience: “The beauty is that I just don’t sweat sh*t anymore.”;

Aside from talking about his dad, Bradley also reveals that some of his A-list friends advised him to pass on his breakthough role in The Hangover. “Well, let me tell you about actors,” he admits. “Back then, I had a couple of high-profile actor friends who were pretty successful and they were saying, “Why are you doing that movie called The Hangover? I read the script and I passed.’ And I’m like, “Oh, OK. Well, I’m doing it.’ Something I’ve learned: other successful actors love telling one another they’ve passed on a script.”;
