Don’t worry, this article doesn’t contain any spoilers about Sunday night’s episode of “Game Of Thrones” — unless you like your country-music-star cameos to remain undisclosed.
Chris Stapleton confirmed the news to Rolling Stone that he was one of the Wildling-turned-White-Walkers on Sunday night’s episode. He is a big fan of the show so he asked his management to see what they could do about securing him a small spot.
“I was like, you know, I would gladly fly to wherever in the world just to be a small part and get to watch that show going down,” said Stapleton. “They were gracious enough to let me come participate that way.”
His bass player J.T. Cure and tour manager also joined in the fun.
Stapleton’s wife, Morgane, shared a clip of her husband as a White Walker on Instagram for his very brief appearance.
Being a White Walker even came with specific instructions. “They knew we weren’t actors,” he added, laughing. “So the direction was basically, we’re going to place you, and when we tell you to, open your eyes. And they trained us on how White Walkers are supposed to stand up and move when they’re first waking up. We had a crash course in that.”
Other stars who have had cameos in the hit HBO show have included former CIA deputy director David S. Cohen, “Always Sunny In Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney, Ed Sheeran, Icelandic band Sigur Ros, and Of Monsters And Men, who have made two separate appearances.
