Martin Short paid a visit to “Busy Tonight” on Monday, and regaled host Busy Philipps with an outrageous anecdote involving his “Father of the Bride” co-stars Steve Martin and Diane Keaton.
“We were watching the O.J. trial. This is making ‘Father of the Bride 2’ so it’s 1995. It’s on a TV and we’re all in the makeup trailer and I’m doing bits and Steve Martin is there and we’re doing bits and we’re talking away and she’s trying to listen,” explained the 69-year-old Canadian comedy icon.
“And she finally turned to me and went, ‘If you don’t shut your mouth I’m going to b**w you.’ And Steve said, ‘Diane, I think you need to work on your insults.'”
In another part of the interview, Philipps insists Short deserves the same level of respect “as a Dame Judi Dench,” leading Short to inform her, “Hey, I’m a knight, you know: Order of Canada,” before divulging how he first met Martin and why he continues to tune in to “Saturday Night Live” each week.
