Pete Doherty’s good deed wound him up in the hospital.
The English singer and The Libertines co-frontman has been hospitalized after being stabbed by a hedgehog spike. Doherty, 40, shared the news Monday on Twitter.
“A picture [of] me in a hospital bed with an infected hedgehog spike wound thank you to the wonderful men and women who work within the NHS,” he wrote. “What absolute angels and a million times they deserve our respect and thanks.”
Doherty was attempting to rescue the hedgehog from the clutches of his two Siberian Huskies. “Zeus and Narco had the cute wee verminous Schnuffle shuffle Pig of the Hedge in their gobs and I wrapped my hand in a t-shirt and freed the wee bugger and got a tiny cut,” he shared. “That was Wednesday night/Thursday morning.”
Three days later, Doherty noticed the “tiny cut” had become far more severe. “Cue three days in a van with a carefree attitude to potentially infected forefingers,” he shared.
Doherty was famously engaged to English model Kate Moss. They first met at Moss’ birthday party in 2005 and made their engagement public in April 2007. They split in July of that same year.
