Charlize Theron is an action superstar on the big screen, but at home she likes to keep things simple.
Speaking to Marie Claire for their new cover story, the “Long Shot” star shares her routine as a mom to two children aged 7 and 4.
“I love being a mom,” Theron says. “I get up with them at 5:30 a.m. everyday. I make them breakfast. I pack their lunches. On the weekends, we hang out with family and friends. I’ll cook lasagna for them – or steak. We do a lot of grilling. We go to Medieval Times.”
Theron admits that she also gets a lot of help from her mother who “totally co-parents with me.”
“She comes by the house every morning at 5:45 to take the dogs hiking. And when I’m in a job, my mom really steps in,” Theron says.
Theron also appeared on “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday and spoke more about her children.
“They feel like the limited amount of knowledge that they have at this age, they act as if they’re masters of that knowledge, and use it consistently in a manner like, ‘You’re stupid mom,'” Theron laughed.
Theron is also amazed at some of the things her kids learn. “Like she learned martial arts,” she said of her 4-year-old daughter August. “She learned technical martial arts… I don’t know where she learned it. I think a trainer comes in at 3 a.m. and teaches her.”
Jimmy Fallon also had Theron participate in a game of “Catchphrase” with guests Desus and Mero.
They took turns in two teams attempting to guess words like “kangaroo” and “kickboxing.”
