Sebastian Stan knows all about the importance of keeping closely guarded secrets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he did tease an upcoming “Avengers” spin-off series when he appeared on “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday.
The Winter Soldier actor tried his best not to spoil the recently released “Avengers: Endgame” when chatting with Jimmy Fallon about working on the climactic Marvel movie. Describing the filming process, Stan said for his part in the superhero epic, he didn’t find out what he was shooting until the day of.
“You can kind of tell by my expression… I hide the confusion well under a Zoolander look,” he joked.
There was one day in particular where Stan was told to turn up in formal attire “for a wedding,” which had him completely baffled. “I was like, ‘who is getting married?’ I was looking around and then two people weren’t there, so I guess that was the bride and groom…”
“Because that’s what it was, right? A wedding…” he said, careful not to give away the real reason that everyone was wearing black for those that haven’t yet seen the movie yet.
Stan did, however, confirm the rumours that he and his co-star Anthony Mackie, who plays Falcon, will be getting their own spin-off series on the new Disney+ streaming platform.
“It only took about four press tours for somebody to kind of get the idea that these two lunatics should have a show,” he quipped. “The rumours are true.”
Variety previously reported that “Empire” writer Malcolm Spellman had been tapped to write a series about the Captain America sidekicks, who have starred in multiple films in the Marvel franchise.
