Danny McBride is returning to HBO in a new comedy series about the crazy world of televangelists.

The “Eastbound and Down” creator stars alongside John Goodman and Adam DeVine in a story about a dysfunctional family of televangelists who have a “long tradition of deviance, greed and charitable work.”

Set to premiere in August, the comedy co-stars Edi Patterson, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams.

According to the official synopsis, “McBride will star as main character Jesse Gemstone, who sees himself as a maverick in the ministry game, taking what his father, Eli Gemstone, has built and expanded it for a more modern audience.”

McBride, who created the show with his “Eastbound and Down” and “Vice Principals” collaborator Jody Hill, will also serve as a writer, director and executive producer on the series.
