According to Entertainment Weekly, the singer and “Moonlight” actress will record a new song as a replacement for the 1955 original’s “The Siamese Cat Song”, after people complained the lyrics play on racist stereotypes of East Asian people rather than the mischievous characteristics of the highly intelligent felines.

Monae has previously been announced as the voice of a Pekingese dog in the film, and will reportedly also be redoing other songs from the original film.
