Creators from all corners of Hollywood converged to Angelus Funeral Home in South Los Angeles for John Singleton’s private funeral on Monday.
Rapper Ice Cube, actress Taraji P. Henson, director Ryan Coogler, musician Stevie Wonder and singer Tyrese were among the stars who paid their respects to the late filmmaker.

The funeral lasted for approximately two hours, according to AP News, and no media presence was permitted inside.
Ice Cube famously starred in Singleton’s beloved 1991 teenhood drama “Boyz N The Hood”. The film served as an important launching pad for both the rapper’s acting career and the filmmaker’s directing career. Co-stars Nia Long and Morris Chestnut were also present.

Tyrese starred in both Singleton’s 2001 film “Baby Boy” and 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious”. Other notable names present included Congresswoman Maxine Waters, costume designer Ruth Carter, “Straight Outta Compton” director F. Gary Gray, football Hall of Famer Jim Brown, rapper Ludacris, and actor Ving Rhames.
Singleton suffered a stroke on April 17 at the age of 51. Eight days later, it was reported he was in a coma. He was removed from life support on April 29 and passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
