Gwyneth Paltrow and her new hubby Brad Falchuck walked the pink carpet at the 2019 Met Gala.
The actress, who stunned in a sheer yellow maxi dress inspired by the campy “Valley of the Dolls”, seemed to be happy to be back once again despite famously slamming the event.
In 2013, Paltrow told USA Today, “I’m never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all.”
Speaking to an Australian radio station, she added onto her experience, “It sucked. It seems like it’s the best thing in the world, you always think, ‘Oh my god, it’s gonna be so glamorous and amazing and you’re going to see all these people’ and then you get there and it’s so hot and it’s so crowded and everyone’s pushing you.”
She then returned in 2017, wearing a pale pink Calvin Klein by Appointment dress.
Although over the years Paltrow has remained friends with Anna Wintour and has appeared on many Vogue covers, so clearly Wintour didn’t take those words to heart.
Other stars have also expressed their distaste for the gala, only to return.
Amy Schumer once said the evening “felt like a punishment,” while a Lenny Letter essay penned by Lena Dunham read “I attempted to grind my a** on Michael B. Jordan for an additional 20 minutes and then left right after [Amy].” Both ladies came back the following year.
