Tyra Banks is breaking hearts as one of this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover stars.
The stunning supermodel graced one of three covers for the iconic magazine, dropping jaws in a revealing yellow bikini. Banks was joined by Olympic gold medallist soccer player Alex Morgan and entertainment reporter Camille Kostek.
“The three women that make up the covers of the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue represent the brand in the most powerful way possible,” said SI Swimsuit Editor, MJ Day. “While each individual woman is so unique, they come together cohesively to tell a spectacular story.”
“Since Tyra’s first cover in 1996, she’s transformed herself into nothing less than a mogul, a cultural force and a supernova of inspiration and empowerment,” Day continued. “She’s kind of the Swimsuit Issue ethos come to life, everything we know this franchise can be.”
The editor acknowledged how the diversity of this year’s models is a testament to the changing definition of beauty: “Between these three women and the 31 additional that grace SI Swimsuit 2019, the message is clear. Beauty is synonymous with a lot more than just a pretty face.”
Banks, now 45, was the first woman to ever star on the cover of SI Swimsuit and the first-ever African-American woman to grace the cover of GQ. This year’s Swimsuit issue is available now.
